ZTE, Sprint Nextel Ink WiMAX Equipment Supply Deal

Chinese telecommunications equipment provider ZTE announced on July 17 that it has signed a WiMAX equipment supply agreement with US telecom Sprint Nextel. Deliverables include WiMAX PC cards, which come in both PCI Express and USB interfaces, modems, and other related devices. Sprint Nextel's commercial WiMAX service is expected to cover a user base of 100 million in the United States by late 2008. Financial details of the deal are as yet unavailable.
